All students deserve an all-star education
ACES (Athletes Committed to Educating Students) is an innovative out-of-school-time program that brings math and social-emotional learning to life for Minnesota students. Our hands-on curriculum, individual mentorship, and once-in-a-lifetime field trip opportunities help students develop crucial academic and life skills – all through the exciting lens of sports. In partnership with Minnesota’s professional and collegiate sports teams, ACES is tackling the academic opportunity gap and preparing young learners to succeed in school, career, and community.
Tackling the academic opportunity gap
Minnesota students experience one of the largest academic opportunity gaps in the nation. By the time students reach the third grade, the gap between white students and students of color is pronounced — and disparities persist year after year.
ACES is committed to ensuring all young learners, regardless of race or socioeconomic background, have the tools, support, and opportunities to succeed. We serve a diverse population of students, 86% of whom identify as people of color and 86% of whom qualify for free or reduced priced lunch.

ACES was thrilled to welcome WCCO photojournalist Tony Peterson to one of our classrooms at Northeast College Prep this week! From the huddle that starts each ACES day, to the hands-on practice that brings math and social-emotional learning skills together, Tony saw how programming is engaging, intentional, and impactful for youth. Check out the video to learn more about Tony’s visit and to hear from Program Director Malcolm Baker and several of our all-star ACES students!
