MAP OF
SCHOOLS |
|
The A.C.E.S. school year is divided into three
trimesters each with its own theme. In the first
semester all activities relate to the theme of
Community; the second relates to the theme of
Sports; and the third relates to the theme of
The Environment. Each theme features curriculum
from the following four stations: A.C.E.S. Core,
Design it!, Fitness and Nutrition, and Creative
Corner. |
|
A.C.E.S.
Core |
 |
|
A.C.E.S. Core sessions focus on building
student's intangible abilities and core skills
such as communication, teamwork, ethics,
community awareness, writing skills,
advertising, and a greater understanding on the
world around them. A.C.E.S. Core makes up one
half of the A.C.E.S. program. |
|
Design It! Station |
|
The Design It! activities are based on hands-on
learning activities that integrate science with
everyday aspects of life. Fourth grade students
learn about the science of architecture. Fifth
grade students learn about what is involved with
creating a sport. Sixth grade students learn
about the unusual properties of water that make
it indispensable to the survival of the Earth.
|
|
Fitness And Nutrition |
| A.C.E.S. is proud to offer
students the opportunity to become educated in
their body's health and well-being. Students in
fourth grade learn about how healthy diets can
influence their lives. Students in fifth grade
learn about why essential nutrients are
important and how food and energy come from the
environment. Sixth graders explore the
intricacies of global versus local food and how
their food choices affects their immediate
community. |
| Creative
Corner Station |
|
Creative Corner provides students with the
chance to learn while exercising their artistic
and creative abilities. Fourth grade students
create raptor pellets from art supplies. Fifth
grade students examine how to make a sports team
logo. Sixth grade students learn about how to
express themselves through speaking. |
|
 |
A.C.E.S. Partners
Each year, our sports partners enhance the A.C.E.S. curriculum by
having athletes visit the classrooms, a special event with the team and game nights for the families. A.C.E.S. uses the stature of athletes in the eyes of our children as both motivation and reward.
In addition, other partners provide
opportunities and volunteers. |
