ACES Adds Two AmeriCorps Promise Fellows
On August 16, ACES welcomed two new AmeriCorps Promise Fellows for the 2010-11 school year, Emily Vogel and Sunni Monson. The Fellows requested their service tenure be with ACES, then went through a multi-step interview process, and ultimately were granted to ACES via the Minnesota Alliance with Youth.
Emily has been a part-time direct-staff Team Leader for ACES during the two years prior to this year. "This is a very exciting opportunity. It will be interesting to be even more involved with ACES, both in and out of the school." She will be leading the program for one of ACES’ new school sites, Olson Middle School in North Minneapolis.
Sunni is a recent graduate of Hamline University, and she looks forward to working with students and being involved in the nonprofit community. "I am excited for the opportunity to work with an organization whose mission aligns so closely with my beliefs." Sunni will be leading ACES other new location at Maxfield Elementary, in St. Paul.
ACES has benefited from a multi-year partnership with Minnesota Alliance with Youth, as both groups strive to involve the community in enriching the educational experience of students.
