ACES Partners with Northern Clay for Summer
ACES is thrilled to partner with Northern Clay Center this summer, in order to provide ACES students with the opportunity to participate in a variety of clay project activities. The art classes are taking place for two weeks during the regular summer school program at Linwood Monroe (St. Paul).
The art classes are focused around the four elements – earth, wind, water, and fire. For example, the students created wind chimes and are currently working on pitchers and/or canteens (to represent the element of water). Our Northern Clay Center instructor, Karin Holen, has done a fantastic job of teaching the students about various clay techniques, including the creation of coils and pinch pots. During one of the lessons, a fifth-grade Monroe student, Muntadher Al Jaberi exclaimed, “I love working with clay!” Thanks so much to everyone at the Northern Clay Center who helped to make this great partnership a possibility!
