ACES Students at the Ballpark

On Thursday, June 16, a group of lucky ACES students and staff had a wonderful time watching the Minnesota Twins defeat the Chicago White Sox at Target Field! Twins starting pitcher Nick Blackburn, who spent time with ACES students at a game earlier in the season, pitched eight shutout innings for the Twins. Couple that with Michael Cuddyer’s home run in the second inning, and that was enough to beat Mark Buehrle and the White Sox 1-0. Special thanks to Cuddyer and his wife, Claudia, as well as Twins starting pitcher Carl Pavano for providing tickets to the game.

“The kids had a great time watching a winning game and reconnecting with ACES Team Leaders and volunteers,” said ACES AmeriCorps Promise Fellow Sunni Monson, who oversees ACES at Maxfield Elementary.

Students echoed Sunni’s observations. “This is awesome!” said a sixth grade ACES student. “When can we do it again?”
