ACES Students Experience the "Real World"
ACES middle school students recently had the opportunity to experience job shadowing at workplaces across the Twin Cities as a capstone to ACES' year-long E-Mentoring program. Through this program, students exchange weekly emails with business professionals in the community, improving students' communication and technology skills, and offering the opportunity to explore career options.
When visiting E-Mentors' workplaces, students receive a tour, ask questions about their E-Mentor’s career, and learn more about the professional world. On a recent visit to Target Corporate Headquarters, Green Central students were impressed by the numerous career paths within one organization. They also enjoyed the welcoming atmosphere.
“This is cool,” one student announced. “Everyone seems really friendly here. This would be a fun place to work.”
These types of experiences motivate students to further plan their own futures in the working world. Thank you to all of our volunteer E-Mentors and their organizations!
