ACES Summer Program Ends with a Trip to Africa

Students in the ACES summer program at Green Central School were laughing and dancing during the afternoon, and that was because they were listening to a CD of African party music! Students explored a different continent each week and recently “traveled” to Africa during the last week of sumer program. Between weaving kente cloths and making their own mancala boards, youth in the program have been learning in an interactive hands-on manner.

In addition to academic time, during summer program students completed an art project every day, along with cooking on Wednesdays and swimming on Thursdays. They also enjoyed spending time outside and playing numerous games of kickball. Although students were sad to see summer program come to an end, they are excited about all they learned and created. When asked to share their favorite part of the day, the majority of students responded with a resounding, “Everything!”
