Staff Training Kicks-Off Program Year
To launch the 2011-12 school year, ACES full-time program staff held a comprehensive training for incoming part-time direct service staff, or Team Leaders. The mission for the training was to include relevant information in an organized fashion, and to instill positive attitudes within incoming staff. Objectives for Team Leaders were to help them learn more about ACES as an organization and as a program, to instill an understanding of what their specific role is, and to teach them the necessary skills for working in an after-school setting.
Two special guests, Melvin Giles and Sandie McNeel, participated in the training. The title of their presentation was "Intercultural Competencies: Tools for ACES in 2011". In regard to this portion of the training, one of many positive Team Leader comments was, "I learned about cultural diversities and the importance of being transparent."
The mood for the training was one of excitement and eagerness. Each Team Leader was focused on learning effective strategies to make a positive difference for ACES students. ACES appreciates and admires each of their commitment, and we look forward to a great 2011-12 school year!
